Which do you want? The cheapest or the best? :) (I seriously doubt they are one and the same... ) Anyway, for cheap, you might like to try http://www.vroomvroomvroom.com.au/ Paul.

Campervan Help !

We found the camper vans very expensive to book in advance. I know it's always best to book in advance, but we took the risk and booked when we got there and saved an absolute bundle!.

Hotel recommendations - PORT DOUGLAS

We stayed at Mantra Treetops Resort and Spa. It is set between two of the most beautiful and unique world heritage listed locations - the ancient Daintree Rainforest and one of the wonders of the Natural World, the Great Barrier Reef. The roooms were large and they had good laundry rooms. You do have to drive into Port Douglas though, but I think the hotel runs a mini bus service..

Hotel recommendations - PORT DOUGLAS

I stayed at the Port Douglas Quest -- it was handy with laundry facilities right in the suite, etc (I had my offspring with me), but a little out from the the CBD... it was clean, comfortable and reasonable for $$..

Which is the best choice? Australia or New Zealand

My choice os selection is New Zealand.

Which is the best choice? Australia or New Zealand

I'd naturally say NZ. More varied, lot's more things to do all packed into a small space. Plus the currency advantage of our dollar - you'll get more fun for your buck. Incidently, not all Narnia was shot here - the latest, Prince Caspian, also has scenes from Europe, but it was still a pleasant shock to see the children transported back to Narnia, landing on Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel Peninsular, a great place my kids and I visit every year when holidaying at Hahei Beach just down the road..

Which is the best choice? Australia or New Zealand
definitely New Zealand. I've seen Lord of the Rings and Narnia-- both entirely shot in New Zealand..
Doesn't everyone? :).

Where is the best place??

Ayer's rock. Victoria. Sydney. Definitely a must do and go to..

Hotel recommendations - PORT DOUGLAS

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience and could recommend any hotels in Port Douglas?? I'm looking to stay for 3 nights in November. Cheers!.

Where is the best place??

go for the west coast - its further away from the tourist route and you dont have to listen to all the "i have been there too - wasnt #insert lonely planet todo thing here# excellent?! " -stories in hostels (or travel forums...) seriously... perth, broome, wittenom national park or nullabor road and no shower for 4 days.

Travel Insurance For 12 Month Working Holiday

ask your current home or health insurance for a plan - thats probably the cheapest option and you can talk to this people directly to find out if it fits for you. most insurances on the internet are a bit pricey (even if the claim to be the best/cheapest/whatever) just because they pay a pretty high commission to everyone who advertises them. always read the fine print and ask if they pay for a flight to a hospital in your home country if you have some serious medical issues. oh, and try to die as less as possible during holidays..

Traveling To Hobart

I absolutely love Hobart, however my dislike for cold weather keeps me away from it during winter time! One of the facts I love to present to people who don't think much of Hobart (and who obviously haven't been there) is that Hobart was ranked as one of the world's top 5 most photogenic city by the readers of the Lonely Planet Travel Guide. You'll realise this as you travel through its scenic suburbs, many of which offer lovely views to the Derwent River and valley. I'm a big one for lookouts, so obviously you'll want to see the city view from Mount Wellington. But there are also some other good vantage points. Check out the Mt Nelson Signal Station and lookout, and don't miss Rosny Hill lookout for views west towards the city and Tasman Bridge. Some of the streets in the far west of the suburb of West Suburb are particularly scenic as the suburb climbs up the adjacent mountain range, thus offering nice views over the city centre with the Derwent River in the background.

Perth...WHy?

It's often hard to "explain" what it is about Perth that so many visitors like. If you're from Melbourne like myself (or even Sydney or Brisbane), the fact you have a smaller city and a more laid back lifestyle can be a welcome change to the rat-race of the eastern capitals. But what sets Perth apart, which has no doubt shaped the culture of the city and its people, is the fact the city is so isolated from the rest of Australia. If you're in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Adelaide, you can drive your car or catch a train to the next nearest capital and arrive there within the same day. You can even put your car on the ferry between Melbourne and Tassie and do an 8 hour day sailing. But with Perth, it is SEVERAL days driving, several days on the train and many hours on a plane just to get to the nearest other Australian capital city.

Where is the best place??

Perhaps the time of year of travel should be a factor for consideration when deciding where the "best place" is. Tropical North Queensland offers beautiful mild, sunny and usually rain-free weather between August and October. However, go there during the summer and you have rain galore, humidity, and nasties like stingers in the ocean like to appear during that season. It's a place I love to go during the chilly Victorian winter and early spring time, but it's one of the last places I'd want to visit in the height of summer. I would say the best time of year to visit Victoria is between October and April. Some lovely wildflower displays in national parks in October, the state's gardens usually burst into colour in November, and for spectacular autumn colours in late April, the deciduous tree-lined streets of places in the Alpine areas like Bright or Beechworth are well worth seeing.

Which is the best choice? Australia or New Zealand

If you're into bushwalking, nature and the great outdoors, you can't go past New Zealand. In addition to the spectacular scenery, there are essentially no dangerous animals, so you can enjoy bushwalking and exploring the countryside without fear of snakes and other nasties!.

Travel Insurance For 12 Month Working Holiday

Afternoon folks, I'm heading to Australia later this year on a working holiday visa. I'm not entirely sure what the general procedure is regarding insurance when on such a long trip. Does anybody have any recommendations?.

Best time to visit

I'm from the northern US, and when I travelled to Australia in Dec/Jan. I was shocked by the heat. I mean it was really oppressive. The sun is much more intense than here, as I'm pretty sure it is for you, too, since we're at a similar longitude, and even with sunscreen applied liberally my travelling companions and I all got quite sunburned. If all you want to do is hit the beaches for water activities then by all means then would be the time to go. Otherwise November would probably be the better choice..

SECOND YEAR WORKING VISA

My guess is that the Australian authorities may have issues about what you're doing here. That aside, its a violation of the advertising rules here..

SECOND YEAR WORKING VISA

Hey, does anyone out there want a second year visa? If you have returned home and didn't do the work to qualify for the second year I can get you one. All it would cost is 250 (or equivalent currency) If anyone would like anymore information email me at - secondworkingvisa@googlemail.com.

Sydney - Perth...where to start!!??!?!

Sydney is expensive, keep in mind..

Sydney - Perth...where to start!!??!?!

if you plan to buy a car, do it in perth. sydney is the most expensive place to buy a transport in australia. you can find work in perth as well as in sydney, but the west cost is a cheaper place to live..

Sydney - Perth...where to start!!??!?!

Sydney should be warmer than Perth in August..

Where is the best place??

Australia is so diverse it would be hard to say what is the best. Sydney is a must. (have lived there) It has a world class harbour. Ayers Rock is a must. (saw it just after the the Chamberlain baby was taken by a Dingo.) Northern tropical Queensland. Airlie Beach, cairns, Port Douglas are all good. Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road are good too..

Wildlife in Western Australia?

Driving from east to west will allow you to see many emus in WA., or vice versa. I drove and saw amny dead ones on the roads and crossing the roads..

Reasonable priced accomodation recommendations

[quote:015c96a2d9="astro2000"]one option could be to exchange your home or rent it out. perhaps even rent a home over here. there are heaps of websites out there but just found a new one that's free membership atm. it's called 'living away' home exchange or vacation rental. can't put the link in but I'm sure you could google it. hope that helps![/quote:015c96a2d9] I have heard about this new method of holidaying. Personally, I couldn't imagine trusting a stranger in your home for a month(s). Sounded like a good concept though. I guess trust has a lot to do with it..
